A collection of prompts I use for messing about with AI image generation, mostly for VRChat avatars, world posters, thumbnails, profile images, and weird little visual experiments. Some lean into old film and photography aesthetics; others are just fun nonsense inspired by old media, fantasy art, toy packaging, or a straight-up shitpost.

I’ve always liked practical photography tricks and older visual styles, so a lot of these prompts lean into soft-focus lenses, vintage print textures, airbrushed posters, fantasy book art, VHS-era effects, and other stylised looks. AI’s just another creative tool really — and VRChat makes for a surprisingly good place to hide weird little visual easter eggs if somebody actually clicks your avatar.

Copy a prompt, swap in your own avatar or character image, and experiment.

How to use these

Most of these work best with image-to-image generation. Upload a character render, VRChat screenshot, avatar portrait, or reference image first, then paste one of the prompts in and experiment with it.

You can mix prompts together, steal sections you like, swap art styles around, or completely break them apart. Half the fun is seeing what happens when different aesthetics collide.
